Kevin Hart. And why do I know his name? Because it was national news! And why was it news? Because it rarely happens. A kid can get away with embellishing the truth a little on his list of offers, but if he "accepts" a non-existant offer, it seems like it would immediately bite him on the arse. Just like it did Kevin Hart.

You made my point in your point. It is possible that Bates misunderstood/embellished his offer a little, which is why LSU didn't just throw him out in the cold. They may have felt like they mislead him to some extent, but he may have gone to the press before confirming the commitment with Miles.

Do I know any of this? No. This is why I, unlike yourself, am not proclaiming any of this as fact. However, to deny that it's a possibility is just dense.

I promise you that what he committed to was NOT a normal, full out offer. I dont know what it said exactly, perhaps one of those non-committal offers or whatever people call it. But I can tell you that a member of the St P coaching staff told me personally that it was a wacky offer from the start. He told me right when it happened, right when Bates committed.

I haven't made your point, but possibly, you've missed mine. A kid can BS about having an offer, but he can't "accept" the imaginary offer without it flying back in his face.

In such a cut throat business as college recruiting, I didn't think there was any room for philanthropy.

As I recall, he called Joe Robinson to accept. He then spoke w/ Miles. He spoke with Sonny Shipp AFTER speaking to Robinson and Miles. This information came from Houston's mother. I'm positive she wasn't making it up.

Almost anything is possible. But on this particular subject, I'm trying to counter speculation with substance.
