My question is how Edwards would do without Jared Allen on the other side, though Will Smith isn't too bad.

Edwards is generally considered the 4th best player on that Minny DL. Having Jared Allen and the two Williams dudes certainly helped him as it would any solid player. Kind of like the great year that Darren Howard had when he had Joe Johnson, LaRoi Glover, and Norman Hand to take off the double teams. Darren Howard wasn't special when those guys left him, or when he went solo in Philly. So, imo, he's another Darren Howard. Solid, but not elite.

However, if Gregg Williams can get a 6-6, 275 Carlos Dunlap to do a Hargrove turn-around off the field, you could be looking at the next Julius Peppers. But like the OP said, it can't be proven that it will occur. But knowing Gregg Williams' track record of his developing players in his system gives me confidence though.
