When you put in a disc does it just say, "open tray"? Mine has done that before. It wouldn't read the disc so right when you put a disc in and close the tray immediately start tapping on top of your console until it reads it. Hope that helps.

yeah thts exactly wht happens. on the dashboard it just says open tray, as if no disc is present in the console. ill try tappin it and see what happens

Yea just hit the top of it until you hear it start reading the disc and running. There is also some videos on YouTube of this if you want to look them up.

I thought justin said you were a server engineer, which meant you were a server at a restaurant?
Justin is slow sometimes.. I hear his helmet he wears while playing games is pretty cool though.

lulz.
i know your pain as i had a 360 and it used to eat disc.
had two games that just stopped working for no apparent reason. One being Gears of War.
not to bring up the PS3 vs. XBOX argument, but PS3 disc are made with a teflon coating which make them nearly unscratchable by average means unlike the 360 disc. This is because the PS3 is a bluray player.
again not flaming as i own both consoles and was a long time xbox player.

nah, i will admit that my xbox typically fricks up disc after while. i've just learned to save them all to the hard drive as soon as i get them.

the nerd at Gamestop told me and i am sure he is far more geaky and knowledgeable than you.
also i said by average means. meaning the XBOX will chew a disc and spit it out (or not spit it out). The PS3 is very good about not doing that.

This. Mine did it two weeks ago and when I put it in and it said reading, I immediately started tapping on the top until it started reading it. Worked on the first try. I wouldn'd bang on it, but I wouldn't lightly tap it either.
