do you think the saints will take him first, if available (which he should be)?

His athleticism is coming into question. He is still a disruptive force in the middle and I would love to see the Saints get him in the second round if available even if he fits better in a 3-4.

i'm not gonna question his athleticism because it's amazing how one can even run weighing 370. however, i know that he would drop at least 40 lbs and would make a nice sidekick to ellis.

40 is a lot of weight to drop. I think he drops to around 350 for the combine and regains it right after.

With our new "Nasty Defence"
I would like to see the Saints draft Spikes
put him in the middle move Vilma to Shanle's spot

He only plays 2 downs and looks out of shape. He would be a project and he has had two years to really control his wieght. In the end he is still fat.
He is overrated. I could see him slipping in the draft and gettig cut due to wieght.

i like the idea of signing free agent lb's and getting young d-linemen better.

He could become the nastiest pure blocking FB in the league.

I've always liked Spikes and he could definitely address a need on the defense. If available, I would like to see him get drafted to play OLB if he shows good lateral movement in his workouts. Vilma is fine where he is at and I don't think he wants to get moved from his position.

frick Spikes! I want McClain. What would it take to move up and get him? I saw a draft that had him around 15. He could play inside or outside. I think he is a future star at LB.

No on the Bama boy but I love the idea of drafting Spikes.
Posted on 1/31/10 at 8:36 am to bengalbabe4eva
Why? McClain is better and is a good guy.

Mclain is money. We need him IMO. Drew breeze on defense.

That wasn't directed at you, I was talking about Cody. I think Spikes's athleticism fits our defense well.

I say we trade for McClain and pick up Chad Jones. Move Chad Jones to OLB.
LBs:
Jones Vilma McClain
Would be fricking sick!

yeah with a safety and 2 MLBs we'd be unbeatable especially with 2 of them being rookies

I heard one of the draft guys from ESPN on the radio Friday. He attended the Senior Bowl practices and was discussing players whose stock was on the rise and those whose stock had dropped. He said that since Cody weighed in at almost 400 lbs, he sees him dropping to a late 2nd-3rd round selection. In my opinion that is still too high for a player that will clearly eat his way out of the league before his rookie contract is done. The Saints have had this kind of player before, and I hope they stay far away from Cody the Hutt.

I don't want to draft anybody that moves Vilma out of the middle. He's too good there.

Just FYI...he was 30 lbs lighter for the BCSCG according to the announcers yesterday.
