...to have, lets say, a top 50 offense. Consider the progression of Jefferson. The scale is from 0 to 10.
2/10.

5 out of 10, and 4 of that 5 is hope not faith.

90% chance Shep steps up. 90% chance Toliver and Randle step up. 50% chance our o-line steps up. 50% chance JJ steps up. 50% chance our RBs step up. 30% chance Crowton shapes it all into a top 50 offense.

Crowton's only hope is that Gonzales improves Jefferson.

4 out of 10
I hope for something better - I want to see something that resembles an offense.

8/10 look for drastic changes and improvement. The guy was solid for 2 years and hasn't forgotten how to coach.

3.....and I have been a big apologizer for Crowton and Miles.

I have absolute faith that our offensi will be better next year. No matter who the coach or QB is.

The chances are that LSU's offense will be much improved in '10, simply because there isn't much room to be worse. There is far greater upside.
Now, that said, I'm not sure if the Tigers can be top 50. Right now, I'd say it's a coin flip.
I give Crowton a 5.

We will be in the top 50 in the nation in offense. We were 26th in 2007 and 55th in 2008 (when we THOUGHT things were bad).
You people have had all logic stripped out of you by a crappy year and the fever swamp that is the Rant. A veteran QB and a retooled offensive line should be good for 375 to 400 yards of total offense and 28 or 29 PPG (the ranges for top 50 in total and scoring offenses over the past few years).
