Basketball 2010-11 is going to be one of the best of modern era

Many of us already know this and that's why we're not throwing a fit about what's going on right now. We can still possibly turn it around in '10, but next season is going to be a major, major one to remember in LSU history. Quote me on this. LSU basketball will get at least 25 wins next season and will win the west and possibly the SEC.
(* - denotes incoming freshman)
pg - Bo Spencer (his ship will be righted; if not Andre Stringer will step right in for him. Sophomore slumps happen to a variety of guys in a variety of ways. I believe Bo's senior year will force him to become a leader and spend time this summer upping his game and leave behind all probems at the door. 2009 was no fluke for Bo. I think 2011 is his year)
sg - *Matt Darenbecker (Sorry, Dotson, but this kid will be a huge mismatch for a lot of guys. He's listed as a SF, but I believe Trent will take advantage of his shooting skills and make him a wing/off guard player...plus, he's smart and is the type of guy you want at your program. I think he starts as a true frosh and at the SG position, because we're already going to have enough beef down low.)
sf - Storm Warren (Will only get better and better and more disciplined. He's having double-doubles just about every game and I look for him to add more muscle and power to his game, which he already has dramatically improved on. He's 4th in the country in point production increase...he'll be a leader next year).
pf - Malcolm White (Ok TIger fans that don't know what's going on...here is the missing piece. Here is Tyrus Thomas part II. Here is a guy that is going to pull down boards and dominate the paint. The transfer rule is why he's not playing this year, but he left Ole Miss to come play for TJ - something he'd never have done for Brady - and he's practicing with the team. This is what we're missing right now).
c - Dennis Harris (He'll hopefully add weight and elevate his game and not be pressured to be the main rebounder. Many commentators have said great things about Dennis, despite his rail-like frame. At almost 7 feet, he's still an obstacle for anyone. If he trains properly and works hard this summer, he is a legit threat who can step out and hit the 18 foot jumper).
Off the bench:
Aaron Dotson (should be 6th man...hopefully can be lethal from 3 point range)
Garret Green (should also improve and be a nice in/out guy with Harris)
Chris Bass (needs to learn to not be afraid to shoot...and if he can't, he's likley not going t see much action with the arrival of Stringer)
Andre Stringer* (Only 5'9", but inventive and can play both guard positions. Yes, he is a scorer)
Eddie Ludwig (at 6'9" and only about 215...the weight room beckons. he has a chance to become an unsung hero for LSU. He can spell Warren and White next season and still add offensive productivity)
Zach Kinsley (Can come in and spell shooting guards...needs drastic improvemen if he expects to play in '11).
Ralston Turner * (Gotta be excited about this recruit as well...6'5" and can provide even more amazing depth to our guard play)
Jalen Courtney * (Do we redshirt the Provine HS star? He's built a lot like Warren and his game is much the same. tJ has a decision to make).
There ya geaux...now maybe basketball fans will see why there is much reason to write off this season and look forward to dominating next. I am amazed that many people think TJ cannot recruit, when in reality, he has the makings of a top 10 class (and it's already listed at 15 by Rivals). This is a squad full of veterans and young spark plugs that will definitely score points, while playing great defense. If you're not an LSU basketball fan, please take your "Who cares? It's basketball" shite elsewhere.

I'm sure they will be better, but C'MON MAN...

I think that if they make it to the NCAA tourney, that would be a MAJOR accomplishment. I hope you are right, but I am not sipping that kool-aid at this time.

DaStain, I am not one of those persons who comes on here and sees the world through purple and gold glasses. I predicted 9-3 for football. Hell pull up my posts from last year's baseball season. Not only did I predict the exact SEC record the team would have, but the EXACT overall record heading into post season play.
Meanwhile 25 wins can be gotten by a good team in the regular season alone. This team will get 20 wins and add 3 more in the SEC tourney and 2-3 more in the NCAA tourney and you have 25. I don't see why a rolling the eyes emoticon is warranted here. "I'm sure they'll be better"...maybe you just don't believe. Maybe you just don't knwo what Malcolm White is going to do while he's here.
Again, 25 wins is very possible for this team. I think they'll be better than 2009 and they got there easily.

I think we have a chance to be very good next year as well. 25 wins is asking a lot but I wouldn't say it's impossible.
Dotson will start though IMO. The guy has continued to improve, has a really nice stroke, is very comfortable handling the ball and always looks in control, and just seems to have a good IQ out there. I think he takes the 2 spot next year. It should be very interesting to see what happens with Spencer, Bass, and Stringer. You can't overlook experience and that's something that both Spencer and Bass will have. I think Derrenbecker plays the 3 spot along with Turner at times. They will rotate when we want to extend the defense with three point threats. When we want to go big, we use some combo of Storm, White, and either Harris or Courtney.
I think that Dennis Harris has a lot of upside. He's a better version of Chris Johnson IMO at this point in his career. He has good range, still lacks some toughness and physicality but he just needs more time to continue to work on building his body.
I think we will be very good defensively and on the boards next year. We're going to have more length than we're used to but I don't think we will play well enough with so much youth early in the year and we won't make the 25 win mark. The biggest hurdle is finding a scorer. Right now, if we have to have a basket there is a good chance that Taz can do that. Last year we had Thornton. We will miss that next year. From everything I hear White is the real deal and if we have any kind of development from Dotson like we've had from Storm, he's going to be a damn good basketball player for us because he has the talent. And I don't want to forget about Ludwig. He isn't ready now but neither was Storm, just needs some more time. We'll have our deepest team in the last ten years next year.

I can't wait to see andre stringer in action,he is going to bring that deep threat that this team lacks.

Anytime you're a football school, whose fans care little about the 2nd sport, it's always an accomplishment.
I'll take the kool-aid remark as a fair one. Trent Johnson inherited a John Brady team that was very talented last season. No doubt that TJ won with JB's players. The funny part is that Brady wouldn't have. Brady apologists like Bad Cat, xiv, tiger20, and Beatles will tell you that we made a mistake and ran off a coach of destiny.
This season is a product of Brady's inability to recruit consistently well and one of the thinnest benches in LSU history. Give Trent time. He's won where ever he goes. He's a GREAT x's and o's coach and he brings solidarity to lSU. His players respect him, play defense, or they don't play.
2011...LSU will win the SEC west and go back to the dance...and yes, they will win 25 games or more.

Lester, unless you think BO will stay in a slump and not improve, I'm not sure how you can believe that. Stringer is the real deal and Darenbecker, whether he plays sf or sg, brings another scorer to the table. Dotson will be better, unless he's Dameon Mason's cousin. I don't think our backcourt is all-world or anything, but if Bo returns to 2009 form and gets help from others (Bass needs a wakeup call), then next year's back court will be the best we've had since Marcus was here and even deeper.
The front court will be the best in the west.
I think many of us are just negative from what's going on right now. If there is one common demoninator for successful LSU teams it is BENCH. Plain and simple. 2000, 2006, and 2009 had great benches. Right now, we have one of the youngest and worst benches in years.
I called this a 19 win season. I think I was dead wrong, but being in the SEC, I thought we had a chance. Newsflash to me and others: The SEC is once again a strong league and will get stronger. South Carolina has a top 10 class coming in. But back to the point, we'll go 10 dep next season. Talent is everywhere. Depth is not. You give a Trent Johnson team both and you have a Sweet 16-capable team.

I think there is still a lot of uncertainty about our backcourt. Dotson has the game, he just needs some more time and experience. We won't have the type of scorer we had in Marcus but we haven't had someone that can shoot the ball like that in a very long time. We have three guys coming in that can all shoot the three and are heralded as such. Rivals rated both Stringer and Derrenbecker as two of the ten best pure shooters to come out of high school. And we know Turner has the ability. I really think that our ability to extend the defense with shooters combined with about a bevy of post players, many of whom are said to be able to rebound very well (Courtney and White and we know Storm can) and I really think we'll be very very competitive in the league next year.

I'm a GOHS grad, I love Bo..... but unless he improves ton there will be nothing special about next year.
Dotson?? we got 10-12 local players who are better then him, unless injury has set him back 3 years, it was a waste to go get him. He dosnt suck but to go that far to get a mediocre kid???
Harris is a project, he has alot of upside, but he wont be a key player for 2 more years......
White??? in no way will he be anywhere near as good as Tasmin... he will be solid but he wont be a go to guy...
Ludwig? when he's a senior he will be an avg role player..... thats it!
Derinbacher? just not sold on him, i know he outplayed the GOHS kid , but because of how weak Ludwig is i'm gonna have to wait and see on him...
Green just dosnt have it, he'll never be more then a role player
I'm afraid we are gonna be no better then high NIT low Ncaa seed for next 3-4 years
TJ is trying to build , this was my mine knock on JB he never built, he always tried the quick fix.... he didnt want to follow Dales 5 losin seasons with 5 more, Hence the 2000 run, then it was back to thin ice until final four..... thats why in year what 10? we still looked like a probation team..... his way got us some thrills , TJ 's way if he stays to see it down will get us to top 25 status consistently but its gonna take awhile

your on acid, 18 wins tops maybe NIT get off bradys arse the guy went to the final four. you are probably the same guys who dogged brady when he signed tyrus thomas. when trent wins an sec championship with his team let me know, much less a final four. trent had two lottery picks at stanford and didnt get out of the sweet sixteen.

Oh where to begin. We don't have 10-12 players better than Dotson locally. That is nothing but foolish talk. He is a good sized two guard with a good stroke that can handle the rock very well. He will only improve and be very good for us in the future. If you were at the Alabama game you would notice that they didn't press the ball with Dotson handling it near as much as they did Bo.
Harris will be a good player for us next year. White will start at 5 and I've heard nothing but great things about him. White is a different player than Taz. He can rebound better and can play above the rim. Taz has never had that ability and is slow off the dribble. Taz is a 3 body that has the game of a 4. White is an ideal college 5.
Derrenbecker was always believed to be better of the two Country Day boys. He's killed it at national tournaments, is long, and has a ton of range.
We will make the tourney next year.

Wow you and the guy who posted above you...NIT at best? I can't wait to call y'all out next year. Again, read what I tyoed about DEPTH. WHo expects Green and Ludwig to be Bird and McHale. But in this day and age and in this game, they are quality DEPTH guys who can at least come in and play decently. Dotson is starting this year because there's no one else. He's got potential...he's not freaking Kyle McKenzie - who I am sure neither of you can even tell me who he is.

Yeah, he did and I was happy for him. Then what happened when we got there? Laid a big fat EGG. That was the most talented team LSU had since 1990 and Brady didn't hit that 3 pointer vs. A&M. D Mitchell did. I don't know if it's the 16 guys that Brady ran off; the fact that no one else wanted his cheap arse of a hire after we fired him except a school like ASU; the lack of composure he showed on the sidelines during games; the 20 point lead he blew against Villanova...you be the judge. Also, I was PRO Tyrus Thomas. I also know that Brady, without Collis Temple, doesn't land ANY of those kids from Big Baby on.
Jesus, it's awfully funny that some of you hate on Trent Johnson worse than Brady.

Thank you...a guy with sense. Comparing the two (White and Taz) is like comparing Big Baby to Tyrus. Malcolm White is going to be a FORCE next season. If we had him NOW, we'd likley be 14-3 and not 9-8. He's exactly what we're missing.

The number of players that will play next year would take two roster years under any team coached by John Brady to equal.

I hope I remember this. You don't get top 10-15 classes and turn out to be a dud. The only time that's ever happened at LSU was the Livingston/Henderson class and that was because Livingston blew out his knee before he ven played as a Tiger and Dale had no front court to go with them.

This must be John or Misty. You think Brady would have equaled or surpassed what TJ did last year? Honestly?
Trent had two lottery picks...okay. He also played in one of the, at the time, toughest leagues in the country. And not getting out of the Sweet 16? Hahahaha! There are 300 other schools who would love to get in!
By the way, Dale had 3 lotto picks on his '90 team and couldn't get out of the 2nd round - even after getting up 22-5 on GT.

i dont hate trent i just think he is an arrogant yankee who has isolated people who loved lsu basketball, he wont even speak at the six man club. every team that gets to the final four hits a big shot a some point to get there most of the time. there is a collis temple on every campus to help with recruiting. when trent does something with HIS players let me know.

Well considering the fact that this is our best recruiting class on paper that we've ever had, I like the coach and his recruiting ability.
He's not arrogant at all, he's honest. The guy is a no nonsense, no bullshite type of guy, which is the complete opposite of Brady. Brady wouldn't take accountability for anything going as far as blaming the fans. Trent, on the otherhand, would blame his coaching and his team for the fan support.
He's a great coach and will make us very good in the near future. We should feel lucky to have him.
