Who will be the starters next year? and who will be pushing for a starting spot? i think lineplay was a weakness this year for us on both sides so i am just curious

DT: Josh Downs and Drake Nevis
DE: Who knows at this point..probably Pep Levingston because he's a senior but after that I have no idea. Aghayere maybe.

Judging by playing time this year:

DT: Nevis, Downs
DE: Levingston, Edwards

Sam Montgomery will probably be a factor. I'm crossing my fingers that we land JR Ferguson because I think he could get early PT.

Mike Brockers should see some time as well.

Nothing leads me to believe we will be better at d line next year. It's pretty scary.

It's looking pretty thin at defensive tackle. Downs and Nevis..and who else? Davenport has the high school stars but we haven't seen him take a snap yet..and then I can't even remember who's on the roster at the position right now.

A more interesting question would be, who will our linebackers be next year?

I'd imagine Ryan Baker sees some snaps. I hope he does anyway.

I think Stefoin Francois is moving into that Harry Coleman hybrid spot as well. I think that'll be a good fit for him.

I'd hate to see Loston moved. I think he could be a great safety.

I think it'll be hard to keep Kevin Minter off the field too. Dude is built like a truck.

Nevis will be one of the starting DTs. Downs will probably get the first nod, but look for Davenport and Brockers to push him for playing time. Based off of size, They are more like run stoppers than Downs and Nevis are, so they could be put in for certain situations as well.

Edwards will start at one DE spot. I guess Montgomery and Chancey A. will push Pep for the other starting spot, but who knows with the way that this staff favors seniors. I'm not really worried about the d-line play next year if some young talent steps up. Depth could be an issue at DT if there are multiple injuries.

Just go ahead and pencil in the upperclassmen.

DT: Nevis
DT: Hicks
DE: Levingston
DE: Edwards/Agahayre

The Michigan man would not have any uber talented underclassmen cutting the seniority line.

I agree, everyone forgets how impressive Minter was as a recruit. I think he will start in the middle allowing Shepperd to play one side and Baker the other. Francois will play Coleman's role. I also think Mingo might get some PT as a rush LB/DE. With Montgomery, Mingo, Davenport and Brockers added to Downs, Edwards, Aghayere and Nevis, I think our pass rush will be improved next year.
