It is just a GAME.... (read this if you want positive attitude)

Look, I understand that we spend lot of big time money on supporting LSU Football. I, myself, have season tickets to more than just football.
Maybe it is just because I am young and can seek fulfillment elsewhere other than watching 18-22 year olds 4 months out of the year....
.... but guys, it is JUST A GAME.
Athletics is entertainment. What if we win a national championship? Then what?
We've won them in 2003 and 2007... what came of them? It was a damn good time, right? Have your lives been miserable 2004-2006 and 2008-present?
Keep things in perspective here.
I'm sure I have a lot less money than a lot of the fat cats here... but then again, who knows. I spend a considerable amount on attending sporting events and donating to TAF. It's fun! I do it for entertainment!
It's not the end of the world, guys. Reading the garbage here and even attending the games to listen to spoiled arse fans griping the entire time is really taking away from the entire experience. It's just not fun any more... not because of the coaches or the players, but because of the "fans."
Thanks for 2009, Tigers!
Here's to 2010!

We spend over $5 mil per year on coaches salaries. What we get is a program that is about as good as KY or South Car.
WE have the potential to be 1st or 2nd in the SEC
8 out of 10 years. With $5+ million annually invested properly, we should come close to realizing our potential. We are not even close and are sliding. Not exactly something I can get complacent with.
I trust Alleva will protect that investment by the end of next season. He surely has a mounting body of evidence. It's more than entertainment!
It has a huge financial inpact on the university,
the city of Baton Rouge/N.O. and the state of La.
I don't know the numbers, but it is probably at least $100 million per year split between a million or so residents, businesses and gov. agencies.
Ask Jerry Jones if he built Jerry World for entertainment. He would laugh at that suggestion.
Ask UT if they pay Mack B. $5 mil per year for entertainment. There is a payback these guys are expecting and it's not to be entertained.

LSU football is more than just a game. It makes a tremendous amount of money for the university. The football team funds the rest of the atheletic teams at our school. A lot of businesses (bars, hotels, restaurants, lichor stores, etc..) depend on LSU football.
LSU football is a tremendous money maker. Naturally, it makes more money when the team is doing well. It is more than just a game....

It's just a game? Okay.
You're just a tool. I'm cool with that too.

Count LSU the University and LSU the Athletics Guru as two separate and distinct entities.
IT IS JUST A GAME
We won it in 2003 and 2007... what did it get us other than fun times? 2004 and 2008 were "disasterous" according to some of the experts here... I didn't see some huge explosion of progress either after those seasons...
It is entertainment. It is just a game.
Also, ticket prices keep going up and up and up! More success = more ability to get that dollar.
Chill out.... it is just a game.
What can YOU do about it? Not a damn thing. Stop bitching a moaning and be glad you've been there.

I agree with you it is just very difficult to remain completely uninvested emotionally. I try to stay grounded as much as possible with LSU football and just tell myself it is just a GAME.

This is sadly a fact. Success has spoiled a large sector of the LSU fanbase.
