Outright. OK. It was not a split title.

I guess its a good thing the NCAA has no authority to name a champion. All BCS conferences agreed to join the BCS and take the money. The crystal ball is the only championship trophy, and the 2003 version is in Baton Rouge.

In other news, flights to Berlin have been discounted for the holidays.

But they write down in the record books who the national champion(s) is.

ever heard the term "Mythical National Champion?" if not, now you have. thats what all these championships are. BCS, AP, gold jacket, green jacket who gives a shite? the NCAA doesn't name a champion.

ACtually for about a year after the BCS (BCS.org) called 2003 a "split decision with LSU winning the coach championship and USC the AP". They took it down after about a year, as I am sure it reflected poorly on the legitimacy of the BCS. Not to mention, the thousands of e-mails from LSU fans. I was surprised to see the BCS have that up there. And no, the BCS did not mean a split BCS title.

I never said they did. What the NCAA does at the end of the season is mark down who is #1 in the final Coaches, AP, FWAA, and NFF polls. That team or those teams are the official national champions that season.

Vegas ,you can't get any more unbiased, business minded 3rd party than them, paid up only for LSU as the National Champions.

I believe that was his point--the NCAA doesn't agree that anybody wins a national title outright in any season, because they don't name a champion and they don't endorse one single poll by aligning their awarded championship with it.

You're not too bright, are you?

If Auburn didn't get a split title in 04, I can't respect the legitimacy of the 03 "split title".
