Its a shame with all the talent in North Louisiana, that La Tech cant have a top 25 program. They could learn from the docu on miami.

Yeah, thats whats going on right now. But if Tech could recruit most the north la talent they would have a chance to be legit.

ruston is trying to bulid out as a city. but the town is small and tech don't let everybody in just to play football you have to try and go to school.

From what I hear there is a lot of money in ruston. People would be more willing to put money in if they got better talent in.

But they never will. Same way Tulane will never keep LSU out of New Orleans and ULL will never keep LSU out of Lafayette. Tech needs to not lose the "leftover" players to USM, Tulsa, and pretty soon Memphis.

Even with all the talent in the world around them, do you think a 4 or 5 star recruit would hang out in Ruston and play on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, when they could be in Sunny Miami??

If they can get a couple of 8-4 seasons strung together, they might be able to get some of those recruits. Another problem they have is that they are in the WAC and don't play big time games

No one wants to wear those ugly uniforms. Use the money to change those and the mascot and then maybe they get some 2 or 3 stars.

Um, LOSERana Tech will NEVER NEVER NEVER be a consistent top 25 team. For starters they play in the WAC, which would be like LSU playing in the BigTen (geographic wise). Tech needs to join CUSA or the Sunbelt conference in order to maximize their potential. However, even if they do that, they will still not be a consistent top 25 team.

Boise St.? Are they a powerhouse?

The conference has a lot to do with it as well.

I am a Tech Grad and hope that they figure it out. But the comparison of Tech to Miami does not compute.

I am not saying that north la has the talent to be a number 1 school, but they def could get enough talent to be a top 25 team

Big difference between outplaying and actually winning.

The University of Houston is the best comparison for Da U given all of the talent in the Houston area.

What helped Miami become great so fast was the lack of real instate competition. Florida and FSU weren't very good yet. Miami only had to fend off out of state schools.

+1

What Miami did in the late 80's made it cool for guys from Florida to stay instate and not go places like Notre Dame.

Not that a lot of Miami kids went to Notre Dame anyway, but other good schools.

I completely agree. Well stated. Unfortunately our standard of competition is not LA Tech. I really was impressed by what LA Tech did to LSU, but it does not mean much. I don't take much pleasure from beating LA Tech and watching Bama go 16-0 in 2 years of SEC regular season play. It is too bad our yard stick is not playing in state schools.
