the wildcard in this whole playoff thing is the Notre Dame rule. You know they wouldn't force Notre Dame in a conference and they would screw a at large team

I still think Notre Dame would have a tougher time by not being in a conference..And if they did get in and beat Alabama, then Florida, then Texas in consecutive games they would deserve it.

What would you say if it came about that LSU played UF in the SEC Champ and won? The series for the year would be tied 1-1.
I would say that the championship game is more important than the regular season, Florida lost the more important game. Sucks to be Florida and grats to LSU. There are winners and losers no matter how it goes, and at least its settled on the field and not by voters opinion.
I am OK with Chuck Norris's suggestion too. The only difference this year is that you are taking Florida instead of Boise State. I agree this makes sense, it just sucks for Boise State to win all of their games and still have no chance simply because voters opinion they didnt deserve it. The point is that it is not settled on the field.

I'm just saying Notre Dame would still screw a team out. They would have some gay rule saying if they were in the top 15 they are in the playoff

Yea. Screw Notre Dame. If only conference champs make it, then they will have to join a conference.

Oregon won the Pac 10 the 2nd best conference this year
So the Pac 10 champ already lost to Boise. So either Oregon should not be in the playoff, or that Boise win has no meaning. And the ACC champ already lost to a mid level SEC team. GaTech doesnt belong either.

Ah i see what you're saying. Yeah they couldn't allow anything like that to take place. They would just have to be an at large like the TCUs and Boise States of the world. They could achieve that though with their schedule by beating the likes of USC and a few others.

The reason I don't like Boise is that Oregon was their only game. They also had the whole offseason to prepare for the spread because Oregon was their first game. They never had to gameplan on a 1 week period against a tough team and they didn't have to worry about injuries during a big time game.

See, all these issues of who "deserves" in are based on random games and are highly speculative. Who knows who really deserves it. Oregon lost the first game of the season. What does that mean?
The most objective comparisons are within conference. So I say make conference games matter exclusively, and conference champs make it to a conference champ playoff. By doing that, everything is settled on the field and these issues you are all discussing are moot. If the SEC really is the best conference, then its champion should progress deep into the playoffs and win more often that others. That would also settle the conference strength debates.

Exactly. So Oregon is out bc it lost to Boise. Boise is out bc Oregon was its only real game. GaTech doesnt belong either. That's the problem with taking conference champs.

Lsu to the Mwc then. Playing in the Sec would be retarded if it was just conference champions.
