I don't know the answer but it sure looks like we finally have a "well oiled machine" pulling this wagon.

Benson...has always been an owner that stays out of the football operations. He hires football people and lets them do what they're suppose to do. In the past, he made some picks that didn't work out for a number of reasons, but they were all qualified to be where they were (unlike "Meacon and the Astronaut"). He picked a guy that had a good reputation, but didn't want to spend the time it takes to win(Ditka); he hired a guy that had success but couldn't handle players (Hasslet); and he hired a guy who couldn't deal with people (Mora). He finanlly got it right with Payton.

Loomis...He isn't the best GM in the league, but he's far from the worse. He seems to work well with Payton and has done a respectable job on talent evaluation.

Payton...What can I say? The guy is maturing into one of the best coaches right before our eyes. He is an offensive "gunslinger" type coach, but he has learned the value of a balanced attack and you can see the results on the field.

Williams...His reputation as a "Defensive Genius" was not overstated. What he has done with this team and coping with all of the injuries is nothing short of a miracle. If Gibbs were still here, we may have loss the last 4 games.

The Team...Brees is the unquestioned "General" on the field, and off. No player says anything out of line and will always refer questions from the media to Brees. That speaks volumes about Brees as a leader. Even Shockey, a known "Outlaw", has been on his best behavior.

Gentlemen, we have NEVER had all of these pieces of the puzzle at the same time in the history of this franchise. We may well have a 4 to 5 run that will change the face of this organization forever. We deserve it.

Maybe the Saints should win even one championship first.

No, slow down dude. Loooong ways to go before we can even think about comparing these two franchises.

Only way we can be the "new patriot" is if we get 4 superbowl rings. One for this year, and 3 in the next decade. Have to be a dynasty team to be considered Patriot-like.

One of my least favorite sayings is "...but they're still the Saints." Anyone who says this is still stuck in the past. Things are definitely different and going the right direction. How it plays out takes a few breaks in addition to doing it all right.

I've ranted many times on how organizations and success are due to the leadership. Many were once proud and now live on 15-25 year memories (Dallas, Oakland). The mighty Steelers with 6 rings were once the lowest of low franchises for almost 40 years... then, right people and they take off and stay there (as long as you keep getting the right leaders). Everyone should review this pre 1970 history here and get unshackled from the past.
