LSU Offense

There seems to be a problem with the entire LSU offense this season. Clock management, Offensive allignments, Play calling, correct formations all fall under the offensive coordinator and in the end the head coach. Some where down the line there is a communication problem. How could LSU on the first offensive play of the Arkansas game only have 10 men on the field?

I think it's Crowton and his offense. Don't get me wrong. I have no doubt that Crowton is an offensive genius, has a playbook as thick as a NYC phone book and can draw up plays that make other coaches gape in awe. BUT.. no matter how smart you are or how whiz bang your offense is, if it's too complicated to transfer on the field to a bunch of college aged kids, it's too complex and no damned good.
Anybody else remember when Lou Tepper was here running the defense. He had a defensive scheme that everyone agreed was just brilliant. Only problem was, it was so complex, the players couldn't understand it. (Even Tepper said it took 3-5 yrs to learn). I think GC has the same type of problem.

By comparison, the Auburn offense is very fast-paced, more streamlined, and more effective.
Is that coaching or players?

It's all about coaching, and Crowton is not getting the job done. I think his problem is not that he has a complex playbook and system .... the problem is that his system contains 10 plays run in different formations that is predictable and easy to defend. You didn't see Chavis having any problems improving the defense with his schemes that they had to learn and he has only had 1 year and look at the difference. Crowton has had 3 years, he has had his chance, time for Miles to find someone that can get the job done. Old saying...The reason you have a problem today is because you didn't take care of the problem yesterday! Just my 2 cents worth.
