You are looking at mere stats and not what happens on the field.

Roger, it takes some extrapolation. Is his indecisiveness (holding the ball, taking sacks) related to lack of intelligence, lack of confidence, coaching, or inexperience?

I believe he's coached to err on side the of caution and that his slow on the field processing is due to lack of experience. He was a project for this coaching staff.

I remember Rohan when he was young throwing 2 picks early in the Auburn game. I saw Flynn in Iowa bowl game. I remember the up and downs of Russell's career up until the Tennessee game in 2006.

do you think JJ in his 1st game next year is going to play this deliberate and passive? I can't see it. I expect to see a kid brimming with confidence with a year experience under his belt.

He'll be more comfortable and the coaches will be comfortable.

Both. Though the experience factor shouldn't be strong at this point, he has a years worth. No one is denying he has the raw skills, he does. But as the thread stated, has he progressed? In some areas, yes....some no. Those areas he hasn't progressed are not due to inexperience only. Obviously he needs help.
