Why is he in a no win situation? If he loses and gets fired, he gets $18 million and never has to work another day in his life. If he wins, he comes back next yr and makes close to $4 million and then never has to work another day in his life. I don't see how it's not a win-win for him either way.

Tell you what. You can pay me 4 million for a year, and drag my name through the mud, even kick me out of the state after you tar and feather me for just one year of Mile's income.
