You kinda answered your own question.
I brought it up because it's a factor right now, even if it's a minor one.

However, LSU has given genuine opportunities for players--regardless of race--to truly earn playing time as QBs. Heck, LSU's played a number of other black QBs for many years before JJ and RS got here.

This is a long-standing issue (even on the Left Coast) that just will take some time before it gets better.
