LSU has the least sacks in the SEC
And yet our defense is extremely tough to score on.

Bama has allowed the least sacks in the SEC
And yet their passing offense is terrible.

Now this is the scary matchup.

LSU had 5 sacks in the first 6 games. They had 6 in the last two. They'd easily have more, but our players whiffed several times and our team is coming around.
Bama has few sacks against because they don't pass as much as most other teams do. Lack of sacks also doesn't mean LSU doesn't get pressure.
LSU has 47 tackles for loss on the year too, which is what is key. We've also faced mobile QBs in almost every game outside of Auburn.
You had:
Locker
Vandy (option) QB
Lee (MSU)
Tebow
We had 2 sacks I believe in those 4 games. Bama faced Tyrod Taylor, but coaches tried to hold back his offense.
Bama faced:
Crompton
Mallet
Snead (mobile, but not really a runner)
UK's non-running QB (they switched to their freshman after that)
Garcia is the only really mobile QB they faced.
It makesa difference.

JJ is getting better with moving out of the pocket sooner and getting rid of the ball faster. I'd expect to see a lot more protection from the TE and RB for him also.

Alabama or LSU?
Saban or Miles?
Sometimes football analysis can get pretty complicated. In this case, it simply comes down to the most sack.

Bama has gotten 9 of its 21 sacks (per CBS sportsline) in two of its OOC games. They got ZERO sacks against UNT.
They got 0 against Ole Miss and outside of USCe, got 2, 3, and 2 against their other SEC opponents. This included 2 against UK, 2 against Tennessee, and 3 against the minimally mobile Mallet.
So in the SEC, they are averaging 2.4 sacks a game. It's definitely very solid, but they're in the third season in their system. LSU has continued to get better and has faced 4-5 very mobile QBs in their 8 games.

This is a good thing for LSU because it's clear that Bama's strength in this area will not neutralize LSU's strength. It's obvious that LSU's defensive success comes elsewhere.
