Another aspect of problems with putting out a "bugless" game is that games today are so freaking huge (code-wise) and there is so much to do that the ONLY way you can be thorough about it is by tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of customers playing it (the same goes for MMO's, call it "The EverQuest Rule of Quality Testing" if you will).
100,000 people playing a game are much more likely to find flaws, bugs, etc. than 40 people playing it.
