WIll Bama completely scrap the "Wildcat"..

or work on getting Ingram to actually throw the ball? I think it would be a terrible idea to let him throw against LSU's secondary. On the other hand though, while at times it has been terribly frustrating to see it, the way LSU has used RS could definitely play into our favor. Bama knows this kid can take it the distance and basically every time he's in the game, he gets the ball. They will be forced to play the run when he's in the game. This would be a perfect time to let shep line up in a wildcat and throw it down field.

Why would Alabama "scrap" a formation that is averaging over 7 yards a play?

I'm seeing 9-10 guys in the box if they line up in the wildcat until Ingram throws it, I can't imagine him running like that on our D, and I'd bet Saban doesn't imagine that either.

I can. our line hasn't been that stout, they can be bend don't break, which plays into what Bama wants to do. I'm betting they'll give us steady doses of Ingram in either the wildcat or traditional sets until we can stop it.

Oh I see him getting plenty of yards in the I formation, but just not out of the wildcat. Near the end of the UT game when Kiffin Sr was just putting 9 or 10 guys up playing the run, I was thinking Bama has got to let Ingram throw against LSU or this will never work. Thats the whole point of the Wildcat is you don't know who the QB is, but if you never throw the ball, it doesn't matter.

Not to be arguementive- but at this point I would definitely put ole miss and tenn's front 4 ahead of lsu's front (4) with S. Car being very close.

Our front 4 is not big on rushing the passer, but they do a pretty good job stopping the run...in particular a physical, run it right at you type run game.

I hope to god you're right about that. I've been thinking just the opposite. It seems to me we've had trouble stopping off tackle and dive plays. Miss St was running it right at us with success late in the game, and against Florida the damn dive play was working for 4-6 yards a pop (of course I had been drinking and it may not have been as bad as I remember).

The key difference is they (Fla and Miss St) had another option or 2 on the play. With BAMA's slewfoot QB, and not much "deception" in what they do, our guys will be just fine. BAMA is a pro style offense with mostly run and play action.
I know its not entirely the same, but consider how stout our run D is on goaline or short yardage situations. If they are keying on one back, they are nasty.

Well to answer you, there are plays installed to throw out of it, so stacking the box to that degree would be a mistake. A good example would be in the Arkansas game where we reversed then pitched it to McElroy(whod be a reciever in the wildcat they didnt cover) and he let it fly deep to julio for an easy touchdown. I personally would play man with 8 in the box. If that isnt enough to stop it i dont know what you can do aside from going multiple on it and hope you guess right.
