I collected sports cards and memorabilia as a kid so I've got a few, but here are my favorites:

St. Louis Cardinals hat and baseball signed by Stan Musial

Took a tour of Busch Stadium and Ozzie Smith took a bat from his locker and signed it. Also got to sit in Joe Torre's desk, and even put my feet up.

My favorite is a Favre Packers jersey commemorating 3 NFL MVP's in a row.

David Toms used golf ball. He threw it to me when I was just a kid at the Shell Houston Open. My dad started yelling, "Go Tigers!"

LaRon Landry autographed hat - he signed it after the epic Tennessee game in 2006 (if I remember right)

Shaquille O'Neal autographed action figure thing - It's him in an LSU uniform dunking on a goal. The glass is shattered (for effect). There is also a plastic newspaper clipping of him being drafted #1. He signed the backboard with #33 and the newspaper clipping with #32. I got this when he was in Sugar Land at Raising Cane's (he loves that place). He was super nice and told me he hadn't seen what he was signing in years.

I loved that guy. I didn't know he had embraced the nickname to that degree though.

A 1992 Green Bay Packers signed football with all players and coaches

A Reggie Bush signed official NFL football

About 25 Brand new Baseball Bats with printed names such as Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Stan Musial, etc. that used to be used by coaches to hit ground balls in the 60s that are worth almost $1000 a piece

An Aaron Brooks signed Rookie Card

We actually had it appraised a couple of years ago and it was worth around $12,000. That is why we are hanging on to it as long as we can.

I was planning on retiring on my card collection, but people don't seem to care much about them anymore. Luckily the still hold a good bit of nostalgia.

Good luck. Just don't hold on to it too long. I'm telling you that baseball will be in big trouble in 20 to 30 years. There is almost NO interest for baseball in the most recent generation.

Really?
Just 2 years ago,
quote:

Not any longer. Baseball will finish this year with just over $6 billion in revenue, according to Bob DuPuy, Major League Baseball's president and chief operating officer.

To put that into context, that puts baseball right on the heels of the more than $6 billion in revenue reported by the National Football League in 2006.

CNN Money

Not to mention
quote:

That period [1996-present] also brought the sport unprecedented income and popularity. Revenue more than tripled, to $6 billion this year from $1.78 billion in 1996

quote:

This year, baseball had record revenue of $6.5 billion, while attendance slipped slightly from a record in 2007.

Selig said no sponsors have asked at the league level to rework their contracts. He will have a better idea early next year whether that revenue will be squeezed.

The most recent generation isn't paying for tickets yet. People would have thought I was crazy if I had predicted these economic troubles in the 90s also. Tons of old people like baseball. Young people don't. Eventually these young people will become old.

Generalized assumption from what you see among yourself and your friends. Obviously you can not speak for a nation wide audience. No concrete evidence to back up any claim other than an "idea" you have. Doesn't matter that baseball is making more money now than ever before, that must be old people buying those hats, going to all the games, purchasing jersey's, shirts, bats, etc.

When you can provide any information other than an opinion you might earn some credibility. Thats like saying 30 years from now we will live on the moon.
