How long before the game do they have Mike roar? It's been a while since I've been to a game and I'm taking my son to his first game this Saturday. Definitely hoping that the fact that LSU has a live Tiger will sway him to cheer for the Tigers and not the AU Tiggers his mom cheers for.

Mike wasn't at the game Saturday. He is shy. They are trying to get him used to going out there. Maybe you'll get lucky this week. Also, I don't think they make him roar anymore. I remember hearing they used to poke him with a stick or something to get him to roar, but it's my understanding they don't do that anymore. He just roars on his own.

mike led the band down victory hill before the game saturday.. they didn't take him on the field because it was too wet to drive around on.

If they do it this week, how long would it be? It's been a few years and I can't remember. Is it like 20 minutes...or longer?

The announcers said that the trainer told them that he has to get used to going out there and he was not used to it yet. The same thing was said last year. They broke him in slowly. He wasn't at the first couple of games last year if I remember correctly. Apparently 92,000+ makes him a little nervous. Go figure.

Take him behind Mike's Habitat at about 3:15-3:30 next week. That's when they load Mike into his travel cage.

It is usually about 20 to 30 minutes before game time if I remember correctly. They were trying not to get him to roar because I think they were scared that he would jump at the bars and hurt himself. They have signs up for pets not to go around his habitat because he used to try to get to they and he would hit his head on the glass in the process. The article in the Reveille said they can't guarantee that Mike will even enter the cage for every game so we aren't sure if he will roar or not.

Mike V was trained to roar when he saw the mascot Mike the Tiger. So, the cheerleaders would surround his cage, then when the mascot got close, they'd move out of the way and let Mike V see him, and he'd roar at him. I've never seen Mike the Tiger poked, prodded, or shocked inside of Tiger Stadium, and I'm sure if he was, it would have been national news.

Good to see he was actually in the cage. I assume the reason he wasn't in the stadium was because of weather then.

They don't get Mike to roar anymore. If he does, it's just random.

Mike V didn't like the Mike mascot at all. He would roar when he saw the mascot walking up all slow to the cage.
