True, but all of these moves had the same result, he over runs the play.

No, on the spin move, he left the RT in the dust and accidentally struck Locker on the head and got the penalty. On the bullrush, he got close enough to force him to step up and take a hit from Woods.

The worst overrun of the night was by far Aghayere on that 4th down play. Everyone loves to scapegoat Alem for some reason though even though the only time our defense played well was when they allowed him to rush the passer. I couldn't care less about some 5 yard scramble Locker had due to Alem getting too far upfield. It's all about QB pressure.

I doubt we will be running that kind of offense this year, so I don't see the running lanes opening up for him. With Flynn/Doucet/Byrd/LaFell this was possible.

Why wouldn't we throw downfield? Jefferson hit a 40 yard + TD pass to Lafell in both of his starts last year.

Yes, he did you are correct. But he blew the play by getting the penalty, because that got them a first down, just like his boneheaded move of kicking the ball against ARKY that later cost us the game.

It's not just the QB pressure, he overruns the RB coming out of the backfield. This is what is allowing most of the first down runs that come to his side of the field. I must have counted 5 times that he did this.

Agreed. That gave Locker and easy 1st down and they converted the garbage TD on the next play I think.

Maybe if we are way ahead like with GT, there's no risk. But against SEC teams I do not see us having a big downfield passing game (more than 20 yards).
