What does it matter where LSU is ranked? It is where you are ranked at the end of the season that counts the most.

Us complaining about Bama being ranked top 5-8 is clear case of us being right and everyone else being wrong. The "Alabama will suck this year" flame is sooooo tired.

#11 sounds fine to me. Let's fly under the radar and surprise 'em all!

"I agree for the most part, but....

Amen.
It's so fricking cliche to say "It only matters where you finish."
Well, duh.
What people fail to realize is that you're finish can often be dictated by your preseason ranking.
Case in point. Take Utah last season. Had they been preseason top 7 or 8, they would have played in the national title game.
Or use your Auburn example in '04. Think their preaseason ranking didn't matter?
Stop with the cliches about how being an underdog helps us in the long run. It doesn't. We are an elite perennial top 10 team with all the talent we have.
FWIW, Alabama at #5 with all the offensive starters they must replace is a joke.

anyone who is not totally pissed off over ole miss is not a true fan- we cannot be below that bunch in anything-- a must to beat them in oxford this year- a must probably more than any other road game- we must get them in their correct place-- bottom group of sec.

Alabama will not suck. However, the AP is extremely generous ranking them in the top 5 with a new unproven QB and having to replace the entire Offensive line.

We won two national titles with unproven quarterbacks.

The one ranking I have a problem with is Alabama at 5
they finished 0-2...and lose their starting QB and left tackle...

The exception to the rule.
How did we do last year with unproven quarterbacks?

well they did beat our arse lst season,
and they beat Tech's arse in their bowl, so why should we be ranked over them right now?

Week 1:
LSU Wins, National TV ESPN
Georgia Beats Oky State
Bama VTech....50/50
End of Week One: LSU is Number 9
Week 2:
LSU Wins at Home on ESPNU
#4USC at #6Ohio State.....50/50
South Carolina at Georgia (who beats Oky State in Week 1)
End of Week Two: LSU is Number 7 or 8
Week 3:
LSU Wins at Home on ESPNU
Tenn at Florida
USC at Washington
Nebraska at Va Tech
Given no upsets have taken place, the big game this week is Texas Tech at Texas...who knows?
To this point in the season, if we play well (not just win) but show that we have made the changes needed from last years, I say LSU is #6 or #7.
Week 4:
LSU Travels to Miss State TBA. I say it falls to a 6 o'clock games...Miss State's WHITE OUT GAME.
Mississippi at South Car - Thursday night ESPN
Florida at Kentucky
Arkansas at Alabama
Miami at Va Tech
Ball State at Auburn
Arizona St at Georgia
Iowa at Penn St
Week 4 is a crazy week for college football. I, again, say we win in big fashion. End of Week...LSU solid #6
Week 5:
This will be said to be our first BIG Test. LSU travels to Georgia. ESPN will be all over this game. We have played 5 weeks of Nationaly Televised Football. The voters have seen what we can do and now we have the national stage to move into the top 5.
Oklahoma at Miami (FL)
Alabama at Kentucky
Virginia Tech at Duke
Mississippi at Vanderbilt
Penn State at Illinois
Georgia Tech at Mississippi State
End of week 5...I hope i'm happy!!!!

Honestly, Ole Miss has more of a right to be at #5 than Alabama. Look at who returns for Ole Miss.
Alabama has way too many question marks on offense. Ole Miss' main question is whether or not they can handle success.

I'm glad we missed the top 10. We went 8-5 last year and didn't finish in the top 25. I know we should be much imporved, but we don't deserve all the acolades that we have gotten this year.
I'm feeling you man. I think we will do great this year, but we don't deserve to start out the season in the top 10. It's ok though, b/c we're still definately within striking distance.

USC being up there that high is the one that cracks me up. They don't even have a QB yet.
