they didn't want it to compete with the battle in part 2 of the 7th book which is completely stupid

meh, he is more powerful than the book gives him credit for and is (from my impression of the book) the most powerful one at hogwarts, at least when it comes to defense against the dark arts.

I liked it. It did drop the ball at the end taking out he fight scene, but I did think it brought more comedy to the table than your usual HP movie. I laughed a fair bit.
