Evaluation by: thibtigah21
Trovon Reed | WR
Ht: 6-foot-0
Wt: 173 lbs
Forty: 4.4 secs
Vertical: 35 inches
Shuttle: 4.31 secs
ACT: 23
Class: 2010 (High School)
Rivals #15 overall player/ #2 WR
Rivals Profile
ESPN 150 Watch List
ESPN Profile
Scout #9 WR
Scout Profile
My Evaluation:
Reed is VERY quick with the ball in his hands. A very elusive reciever and will make tons of people miss. Will play the slot in college and is being compared to a Percy Harvin type. He could even play DB in college, has very quick feet and hips to make and the breaks a DB needs. May need to add a little weight, but maintain the speed. Working very hard to lower his 40 time and to get off the line quicker and break away from DB's. As seen from his highlight films, Reed will catch the ball thrown ANYWHERE near him. Haven't seen someone make catches like he has in a long time.
He will be a great addition to some teams recieving core (hopefully LSU).
Check back during the season with stat updates and more!

Reed is not a Auburn lock, he has not committed to anyone yet so when the season start and we start to pile up on the wins he will know what college to attend!!! Stay purple and gold

Sorry, I guess I forgot to hit the sarcasm button. I KNOW that he is a Awburn lock, in fact I think he will be a LSU TIGER in the end...

I have the feeling he will end up a LSU as well, we need some receivers especially with this talent but I guess it's a waiting game at this point

Debose is a good comparison. Both have great hands and have a complete speed/quickness game and are elite playmakers
Debose is faster and more explosive, however Reed may have better moves in space and is possibly a more polished skill player.
If he can keep or improve his speed he'll be a huge offensive asset to us. We haven't had anyone like him since Skyler.
He'll will bring the bubble screen back to LSU's offense...we haven't really had a guy good enough in space to run it in a while...Lafell is a bit too long and Doucet got to be too sluggish. Reed will be ideal for it.

Lolz at Scike ranking him 8th in the state or whatever ridiculous number it was.

he would have way more resources and testimonials than me to make the eval, but this does seem rather retarded..I cannot imagine 7 better football players in the state than this kid
however, I was not surprised he dropped way down in the Rivals 100 rankings...he was rated too high to start. The bottomline is there isn't anything that physically separates him from others, so it's hard to rate a 6' WR with good speed that high based soley on how dominant he was his junior year and in camps. The fact of the matter is that there are hundreds of WR prospects out there with similar size and speed.
Obviously Trovon has a special skillset and is a great prospect ..just hard to make him a Top 15 prospect with his measurables

Reed showed out yesterday at the Gridiron Kings' camp in Orlando. Per Mike Farrell's "Hot 11".
"Just when you start to write off Reed as someone who doesn't give it his all and lacks the desire to be great, he comes along with a standout performance. Such was the situation on Saturday where Reed looked like the wide out who was dominant at the U.S. Army Combine but hasn't balled out much since. Reed had two touchdowns early for his Southwest team and had many big catches across the middle where he was able to show his blazing speed and simply outrun defenders. Friday Reed looked like he was tired and going through the motions. Saturday he looked like a world-beater."

It looks like Scike's negativity is affecting the national pundits views of Reed with comments like he "hasn't balled out much since".
How do you ball out when you are in Thibodeaux????
Frick Scike!

He reminds me of Andre Debose.
