Never read the book, but rented the movie this weekend and thought it was fantastic.

I'm not a history buff so some of the "unbelievable plot points" that have been discussed didn't bother me as much. Although I didn't think the movie was about history as much as the story of the two boys and the loss of innocence between them.

I'd highly recommend it.

Saw it and thought it was excellent but the three History classes in college focused on that era which made it highly unbelievable for me.

Overall, A+ flick though.

This movie was so good. The actors were great, especially Vera Farmiga (the mother) at the end. It broke my heart. :(

I agree with this. I thought the two child actors were outstanding.

not stricly historic, they had british accents no less, but it was more of a fable. Very good and very sad. I went and read Eberts review after watching it and he points out how easily the masses followed and were duped by the authorities. Then he alogorizes it against how we are duped by the big corporations, completely missing that it was the Government both then and now that mislead the masses.

just finished it

excellent movie, I was very impressed with the acting ability of the two young leads

I thought the story was a little soft, and the script could've been deeper, but overall, a very well made movie
