FOREVER LSU! (Posted on 6/25/09 at 1:38 p.m.)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It all started on a cool February night
with the National Championship already in sight.
The first pitch in the new Alex Box was thrown by Coleman on the mound
and as fate would have it the Tigers would soon be Omaha bound.
The first game by Ranaudo was definitely not his best
but LSU's bullpen came in and proved that they were up to the test.
Ochinko's 3 run homer in the 5th kept the Tigers hopes alive
and the Tigers would prevail by the score of 9-5.
Game 2 was played with a lot less stress
as Coleman came in and proved he was the best.
Mikie Mathook led off the first with a 3 run blast
and Coleman made sure that the lead would last.
Lafayette was proud of their home grown son
as the Tigers won the game 9-1.
Game 3 came along with a long rain delay
but when Ranaudo took the mound you knew it was going to be the Tigers day.
He looked like the picther that he was throughout the whole year
as Arkansas knew early that the end of their season was near.
Lsu won game 3 easy by the score of 14-5
while Texas kept coming from behind to keep their season alive.
After the Longhorns hit 2 ninth inning home runs to end the Sun Devils dreams
the Championship series was set with the nations two best teams.
Game 1 started off with Schimpf's solo home run blast
but with Coleman struggling the lead was short last.
Texas felt good with their 5 solo shots
but the Tigers hung in there and asked is that all you got.
LeMahieu came thru in the 9th with a two out double
and thats when the Texas faithful knew that they were in trouble.
As the Tigers came back in the 11th to win Game one 7-6
the Longhorns left the field having to feel pretty sick.
Mainieri tried to steal Game 2 by starting Austin Ross
but the decision didn't work and led to a 5-1 loss.
Jungmann went the distance and gave all that he had
but giving a curtain call after every home run just made LSU mad!
The Longhorns evened the series and the Championship game was set
.and if you are a true baseball fan, this is as good as it gets.
Mitchell started off the first inning with a 3 run blast
but with Ranaudo again not at his best the lead would not last.
Texas came back in the 5th and tied the game up at four
but what would happen next would make the Tiger Nation roar.
Texas picthers started getting nervous and Lsu made them pay
and after scoring 5 runs in the 6th you knew it was going to be the Tigers day.
Texas knew if they were going to come back they had to be hasty
but little did they know they would be facing LSU's free safety.
Chad Jones came in and he pitched like a champ
and the Longhorns knew they were in trouble when their right fielder got a cramp.
The game ended with Louis Coleman striking out the side
showing the reason he came back was because of Tiger pride.
After the last strike was thrown the Tigers did a dog pile
showing Texas and the world how to win with Tiger style.
After all is said and done what more can you say about this team
winning in Omaha is every little Tigers' dream.
This whole season has been an unbelievable story
thank you Paul Mainieri for returning the Tigers to Glory.
Well its time to bid you all a final a do
please help me say FOREVER LSU!!!!!!
