I am traveling with 5 friends from Nova Scotia, Canada to Louisiana for the Florida @ LSU game. We will probably be staying in New Orleans on Friday night, but may head to Baton Rouge. We want to take in a high school football game on the Friday night. Who should we go see play to get the ultimate Louisiana high school football experience? And why?

Find out where Destrehan is playing and go to that game.

ETA: They're playing in Dutchtown so that might be a tough drive. But it's between New Orleans and Baton rouge if you just wanted to head into Baton Rouge afterwards and start tailgating Friday night with everyone.

West Monroe and Sulphur have the best high school experiences in Louisiana, but neither is close to New Orleans.

You have a long time to go, I would suggest bumping this topic up and finding out where the best 5A game you could watch conveniently will be.

I'll definitely be at this game. This is a huge district game and if you want to see the 2 time defending state champs get beat, then go see this one.

Even with the little bit of looking I did, Destrehan kept coming up. Guess that's what happens when you win the state championship. Too bad they are not at home, and closer to NO that weekend. What is Dutchtown like as a place to watch a game?

And would we be better off staying in BR on Friday night anyway? Will there be action there that night?

I know I'm a long way away. What can I say. I'm excited.

Good advice to keep bumping as the game approaches to see what the best match up is.

Been there done that. Plano East vs Plano West (2007). Very cool. I want the LA experience now.

The new high school schedules should be coming out sometime this week. I'd wait and ask that question after everyone seen all the match ups that week.

Destrehan should be down this year, but if ESJ, Destrehan, Hahnville any two of those are playing each other that week that's probably your best bet.

What about Newman, Brother Martin, Curtis, or Shaw? I really don't know if these are good to watch b/c I've never been, but I'd appreciate some input from those that have been to their games.

Curtis would be a good call. Destrehan vs. Dutchtown would be a good call, and yes, there will be plenty to do friday night. The RV's will begin arriving on Wednesday for the UF game.

If you want the best high school experience in Louisiana I would suggest....UL-Lafayette, UL-Monroe, or Tulane (but Tulane doesn't own a stadium). You can expect around 10,000 or so fans, a decent band, and an upper level high school stadium

dutchtown is a great place to watch a game. They pack all the bleachers every game and destrehan is going to travel well like always. If you were to stay in BR that night, it wouldn't be a big deal at all to drive over to prairieville and catch it.
