If you weren't trying to flame you'd know that one of our biggest issues last year was not having the defensive play called until the last second putting our young players in a bad spot. Thanks for trying to flame now go eat a finger sammich in the grove.

i thought i'd get idiots like yall that would think this is a flame..
don't call it a frickin lie if you don't know ok?.. there isn't any hidden sarcasm that you read between the lines or anything like that

this is a serious football question as i have only started to really pay attention to football since about 2004.. and since than tennessee has finished in the bottom half of the SEC in both scoring defense and total defense in all but 2 years... 2004 they went 10-3 (7th in total defense 7th in scoring), 2005 they went 5-6 (3rd in total defense 5th in scoring), 2006 went 9-4 (8th in total defense 8th in scoring), 2007 went 10-4 (11th in total defense and 10th in scoring) and than 2008 they go 5-7 (1st in total defense 3rd in scoring).. the point of this was to see what yall thought as most of yall have seen what Chavis had done in years prior to 2004...
why do yall think the better that tennessee has done the worse their defense has faired? and vice versa?
now i completely agree on the assistant coach hires and think that LSUs defense as a whole will immediately get better and i believe that talent wise LSU is the best in the west.. they have a rough schedule and think it is going to come down to the defense as to whether or not they can win the west..

Try comparing Chavis' track record to that of Houston Nutt.

Tell me which one seems to be more consistent.

Maybe Nutt should be the one that you be concerned about.

what were they ranked nationally? since the SEC consistenly has the top defenses in the nation.

saying tenn was the 8th best in the SEC might still mean they were the 20th best in the nation.

and how much seperated them from the 1st rated defense in the SEC?

i think that is the better question. you cant just pull out rankings without the actual stats.
