It's not really the Chavis hire, it's all of the hires that make it good. Ron Cooper was the key. He has turned 2-3* players at USCe into all-sec selections and has always had good secondaries. Also, Haley is an intense coach which is what the D-line needed. Not to mention, Chavis is an excellent LB's coach. The players have commented that they have never seen such an intense coaching staff in practice before...Charles Alexander(6th year senior) said it reminds him of when Muschamp and Saban were running the D in terms of intensity.

This nails it. Chavis knows his shite, and we put a good staff around him. Cooper is probably my favorite hire of the three and Haley, like you stated, brings intensity to the DL. The players seem to be accepting the change and responding well and I think that will go a LONG way in this.
