quote:Dude.....I seen the stats. The media will always have a lovefest with Hershel Walker and Bo Jackson as SEC poster boys before McFadden. That's just the way it is and will be.
Are you f'ing kidding me? Have you even bothered to look at the stats?

quote:Dude, that's my point. Stats play second fiddle when it comes to replacing the face of the SEC....It will always be Bear Bryant, Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, and now Tim Tebow as the SEC poster boys. Steve Spurrier, McFadden, Faulk, and Emmit Smith are honorable mentioned if you like it or not.
Get out of here. Honorable Mention?

We are on the same page more than not.
My useless 2 cents was aimed at pointing out that Faulk is behind McFadden, or not even listed, in just about every rushing record in the SEC record books. Therefore, Faulk wouldn't be next in line.

Faulk is rightfully an LSU legend. His legend isn't nationwide b/c...
1. His teams weren't as good as Bo & Herschel's. That's one reason McFadden slips a bit in the "legend" rankings.
2. The Heisman consideration helps Bo, Hershel & DMAC. Faulk was always in the shadow of Manning or Weurffel.
3. Faulk's impressive stat is that he's the SEC leader in All-Purpose yards. It's an impressive record, but it'll never be as sexy as the rushing title. It's like leading MLB in on-base percentage is not nearly as sexy as the home-run record.
4. Bo was a two-sport professional. Unbelievable!
5. Bo, Hershel were impressive physical specimens. Today, over 20 years after their prime, it's a bit more common to see guys their size who can run that fast. In their day, it was extremely rare. Remember when "The Fridge" made a splash in 1985 when he played at over 300 lbs? Today everybody has a "Fridge"...and a "Kitchen"...and a "House". Faulk had a less impressive scatback physique.

Kevin Faulk ... and Gerry Dinardo brought back LSU football.

he was/is my favorite LSU player of all time
probably in my top 3

he's the best overall player in LSU history
ummm...no

and him signing with LSU was as important as any other event in recent LSU football history
It's definitely up there. Impossible to really know, though. The hirings of Dinardo, Emmert, and Saban also factored into it significantly. Clayton and Spears committing was pretty clutch, too.

Faulk has 3 SB rings. Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson, not so much...

Too bad Faulk spent his 4 seasons on two underacheiving and 2 shitty LSU squads or else he would have garnered a hell of a lot more accolade.
If he would have at least won an SEC Title as a Tiger i think he would be viewed differently.
