thats a damn stupid rule. I actually feel kinda sorry for him
He is still a f**king thug, why feel sorry for him?? Just like Michael (idiot) Vick...he never was anything close to being a saint before the dog-fighting incident, why should they get extra benefits just because they play(ed) football?? If they have truly turned their lives around, then let them earn it in the REAL working world like the rest of us...

You're absolutely right about Mauck, but Chris Weinke played minor league baseball until 1996. He was born in 1972. Lorbek and Atsur were both under 21 when they played as well, but they were on the payrolls of legit professional teams in their home countries.

I was just replying to the other poster, who said that the rules were clear-cut. That would be one of the last adjectives I would use.

The rule is clear-cut. You only lose eligibility in the sport that you played, NOT all sports. Therefore, Weinke et al would not have lost any eligibility unless they were playing baseball.

This guy played football, therefore he loses a year. If the school wants him to graduate, just let him switch sports. Put him on the tennis team.

I hate how the article tries to make it sound like his chance to graduate would disappear if this happens. Why, is he too rich to get grants and loans or too lazy to get a damn job. There is absolutely no reason that he couldn't graduate........and the real truth of the matter is that if he wasn't out committing felonies, then he would have graduated from high school normally and none of this would have happened.
