The ring of death has finally hit my 360 after 3 years of faithful service.

1-800-4my-xbox
they helped me out big time. one thing to try and do that fixed mine right on the spot was unplugged the power source, then took out the hard drive for a few seconds. put it back on and then turn on the console and presto... no more ring of death. try that first before calling them because usually that fixes it. if need being you can send them your 360 and they will take a look at it. not sure how much it would cost though. i had to do that before i got the elite and it costed me only 40 bucks for them to fix it. the pretty much just gave me a brand new one.
try it out and see what happens. hope it works out for ya cause the red ring sucks

Lol thats why you should never buy an Xbox. Good games but the hardware is trash.

Well, I tried everything except taking it apart to clean the motherboard(no star head for screwdriver). Luckily, my lil sis is gonna give me hers since she quit playing it months ago. A quick blast from an air can to break up any dust and I'm good to go.
Just having that first production-year xbox last this long was amazing IMO.

You definitely dont want to be opening the thing. You can't get it replaced if you open it.

Oh, I'm opening it.
This f-ing xbox has it coming big time. Seriously though, I'll be hitting the workbench with it next weekend. Arctic Silver 5 is already being shipped to my house, and it'll be fixed before Easter. The one she's giving me is mine to keep, so the old one will be a weekend experiment.

The old stickers are bitch, but you can open the case without breaking the tag. The new ones are like paper.
My modded 360 ringed and I sent it in to M$ and they gave me a new one. I guess they don't check the firmware
