Strawberry Season already over???

Went to a fresh market up here in S'port and they told us that LA strawberries are done for the year. I know some years back we would get them well into May. WTF is going on????

I think the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival is this weekend (April 3-4).

I was getting awesome LA strawberries since late Jan/early Feb. They are not nearly as good in the last two weeks. I was thinking it was early to be done, but maybe not. Guess I'll try some CA berries for Easter trifle.
