I know the website will put up some instructions and stuff but this stuff came to mind right away.
Also, is there a cost involved? How long do the practices last? Do they sell refreshments?

It is completely free to get in. Practices usually go for about 2 hours or so each. Sometimes they do cool stuff like 7 on 7 where you get to see your skilled players shine. Other times they have just done some generic drills. You will for sure learn a lot about new players if you go.
In Jackson, they sold beer, powerade, and water. No food though.
If I was driving from Laf, I would wonder these things too before I made the hike.
