Kentucky 19-9 (8-5)
Saturday, Feb 28 3PM
Radio:100.7 TV: CBS

Season Breakdown

Kentucky has been a bit of a mystery to most, even though they have lots of coverage thanks to their superstar Jodie Meeks. They have lsot a lot of games they shouldn’t have like an opening season lost to VMI, but have improved. After a big loss to South Carolina last week they have fallen to 8-4 in the SEC and a game behind South Carolina (SC holds tiebreaker for SEC tourney because they have beat them twice). Rupp is one of the top college venue’s and always brings a loud crowd, even though Kentucky already has 4 losses at home. Kentucky is still a bubble NCAA Tourney team and would love to get a quality win against LSU to solidify themselves in the tournament.

Point Distribution (by position)

C: 21.6%
PF: 19.4%
SF: 12.8%
SG: 25.4%
PG: 20.8%

** They don’t score with their 3 guard so we can use Temple to guard Meeks at 2 guard.

Positive

Defense – Blocking (4 NCAA) 2pt% (5 NCAA)

Free Throw % - 77.7% (5 NCAA)

2pt% - 54.1% (19 NCAA)

Patrick Patterson – 6’9” 235 beast down low

Negative

Experience – 1.4yrs experience (267 NCAA)

Great job as always South!

Saw Perry Stevenson in the dome a couple years back... He was lazy! I hope not much has changed...

From those stats it would seem Kentucky relies heavily on just two players to do all the scoring. Is that how most of their games go or are those stats somehow misleading?

I like our chances against this team.

From the games I've seen that is pretty much the case. About 40 points a game come from those two and they find 30 points from the rest. Sounds easier to stop then it is though...

Thanks, look forward to these before every game.

Only problem I see is that we may have some size disadvantages. If we put Temple on Meeks, then MT will have to guard Miller at 6'7" and Spencer on Porter at 6'3", and Taz on Stevenson at 6'9". Trent has made some great adjustments this year though, so I'd expect to see the same.

This is what we did in the 2nd half of the florida game when we moved Temple to guard Calathes and we had to put the much smaller Spencer on their 6'9" 3G. I think Spencer can stay in front of a tall shooting guard and put a hand in his face.

Down low will be a problem but that has nothing to do with the Guards changing assignments.

The only thing that worries me about this game is that is at The Rupp. Other than that, LSU should win. As long as none our starters get hurt or foul out, we should win, even at Rupp.
