something I hadn't read before at T-P 03/02 10:30pm update-
Springs (6 feet, 207), who has played the past five seasons with Washington, has 32 interceptions and five forced fumbles in his career since being drafted with the third overall pick out of Ohio State in 1997 by Seattle. Injuries have knocked him out of a combined 14 games the past three years, but he has still played at a high level when healthy. There was talk last year of moving him to safety, which is something the Saints might consider. If nothing else, the flexibility would be an asset.

GW should know

not a bad NFP comment-
Our own Joe Fortenbaugh reported that former Redskins cornerback Shawn Springs was scheduled to visit with the Saints in New Orleans. This shouldn’t be a surprise since Gregg Williams is now the defensive coordinator in the Big Easy. Springs meshed well with Williams in D.C., and although he isn’t the playmaker he used to be, he would fit with Williams and his multiple defensive packages. No coach in the league uses the roster like Williams does. If you’re in a uniform, he will find a way to put you in position to make a play at some point during the game. Springs should jump at any offer the Saints throw his way.
