What questions should I make sure to ask roofers when giving bids?

Simple hip style roof without gables, approved for fortified grant.
Drip edge replacement? I have some sections with gutters.
Shingle overhang length over drip edges?
I have a side door out the garage., no gutters right there so it’s constantly getting the bottom of the door and frame wet, and getting into the garage (I’ve replaced the rotten door frame once). I know the right answer is gutters. Should they add a rain diverter?

Location?
First and foremost you need to ask that the hold the proper insurance and liability and that they have the proper license to pull the permit.
Then start worrying about the actual job

Ice and water shield in valleys and the ridges. Are they overlaying or removing and then laying down new? Is the contractor certified for the shingle/products they’re installing?

The specifications for the fortified roof program are listed at the website. It is a line item of what has to happen and what has to be used to be considered for a fortified roof. Also, the contractor has to be certified and it has to have an inspection. It's really just asking how much for the fortified roof.
