Great day fly fishing on The Beaver Tailwater yesterday. Nice down stream wind. A bit of chop on the water. Caught over 50 rainbows and everyone was between 10-12.5 inches. Weird that not one in the slot limit of 13-16 in. But some of them had some thickness. Beautiful colors. Used white micro jig most of the morning. Saw a few big ones coming up from depth and tried to take my white football strike indicator. So I switched to dries (a big hopper) and took about 5 or 6. Not often you can use big terrestrials to catch fish on the Beav. Only about three other fisherman were at the turn around and then left in early afternoon so had the whole thing to myself. Thankful to God for great days such as this.

That's a good day on the Beav. I wonder if they'd just stocked? Were you up at the dam? My son was out there on Tuesday and did fairly well (but not numbers like yours), but he's pretty insistent on bigger streamers and also fishing down toward parker bottoms.

Hey Hogfly, I was below the turn around ( not too far from Parker Bottoms). I wondered the same thing myself about a recent stocking which makes sense why fish were eating anything and aggressive to fly and all clones of each other. It has been good at Beaver but not crazy good like yesterday. Nice overcast day with downstream steady wind. I think I could have cast a dandelion and caught fish yesterday. Not your typical spooky big trout
Do you fish Beaver much? I love it since I can be wading exactly one hour from leaving home. Gonna hit the white bass run here soon.

Your son with big streamers and fishing around Parker Bottom means he is going for some big browns. He ain't messing around.

I haven't fished Beaver much lately. Honestly just got back into fishing regularly again in the last year. Was huge into it before kids and when they were young, then my son got ate up with mountain biking, and we focused on that as a family. Then he got ate up with fly fishing last year while recovering from a MTB injury, so I've gotten back into it huge again. He works at McClellan's on Monday and Wednesday afternoon, so drop in and say Hi sometime.

He's definitely ate up with the streamer bug. Here's a big bow he caught on the Norfork while mousing at night.

Definitely hoping that this rain puts enough fresh water in the feeders that it encourages the white bass to really start running. We will probably get out this weekend and try our luck.

Met your son a few times. Nice fellow and knows his stuff!

Will look for you this weekend. Will be in a Hog Island Skiff.
