Do brushpack pitches still work?

Lynn Rollins brought it up, and I had this thought. With the armor guys are wearing and the way they are taught to crowd the plate and take an HBP, I'd like to know if there are any advanced analytics that say throwing a purposeful inside pitch well off the plate still causes batters to bail on subsequent pitches.

I'd say, at least from my perspective, anything up by the shoulders and higher/inside will still get the knees a little wobbly and have that front foot stepping out a bit..............but thats just me and i haven't seen a ball coming at me like that in 30 years.

That's another thing. The shoulder and above brush back has been highly discouraged due to player safety. The only time you see it now it's almost always a pitch that got away, either a breaking ball or a game situation where it wouldn't make sense to throw one high and tight.

I haven’t stood in a batters box in 33 years and I’m still worried about it

Yes. Try standing in the box with Skenes playing chin music.
