Dead at 87 LINK
Seals and Crofts were classic back in the day. A time period producing some of the best music in history. Their music was a school days pillar.

Their public stand against abortion in the mid-1970s clearly hurt their commercial momentum.

In 1974 they released the album Unborn Child, built around a strongly anti-abortion title track, over Warner Bros.’ explicit warning that the subject was too controversial and could damage them. The single was banned or dropped by many radio stations, drew harsh reviews, and stalled on the charts, while abortion-rights groups boycotted the record and picketed their concerts, which lowered their profile and slowed their career just as they were coming off a run of big hits.

Jim Seals later said the controversy “completely killed it for a while,” acknowledging that the issue overshadowed the rest of their music and contributed to the decline of their popularity, even though both men also said they heard from fans who credited the song with influencing decisions to continue pregnancies.
