ESPN Sources: Offensive Player of the Year and Super-Bowl champion Jaxon Smith-Njigba reached agreement with the Seattle Seahawks on a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension that now makes him the highest-paid WR in NFL history.

The deal averages $42.15 million per year, and includes over $120 million guaranteed, both setting records for any wide receiver.

The deal was confirmed by @WINSportsGroup.

I am scared to death that the Saints are going to give Chris Olave a deal like this

He was essentially impossible to cover last year and entering his prime. As long as he’s healthy he allows them to get by with younger/very cheap other players in the WR room.

But they let the Super Bowl MVP go to the chiefs

How they can pay both him and Witherspoon? Having each of those guys on rookie deals is the main reason they were Super Bowl champs

He's only 24 years old
JSN will get paid well for his career

I hope there is no world where Olave gets a deal like that. Good WR but JSN was the best WR in the league last season and is on the upswing still

Especially since his game isn’t overly reliant on being significantly more athletic than other players. He’s just very smooth and runs amazing routes. It’s kinda scary how crafty he may get by the time he’s in his late 20s.

Seems like a really good deal for Seattle when considering the cap increase and that Chase signed his contract a year ago

I was telling my buddies during draft season that he could have the closest career to Jerry Rice

Supply and demand

Olave is next up. He’s going to get a contract that he won’t deserve, but he’ll still get it
