Hey everyone! We are trying to fly into John Wayne airport from June 24-27. Prices are around 600. We can fly out of Bham, ATL, or nashville ( really anywhere in deep south). Anyone have tips on how to know when to book for flights? Should I expect them to go down some at some point? Thanks everyone. Not much of a seasoned traveler!

Prices are going up right now because fuel costs are going up. So it depends on what happens in Iran that will determine if and when prices go down.

Too many variables , when do you plan to leave? when do you plan to come back? are you married to a certain airline?
One of the things that may lower your airfare costs, if you can, is fly back on a Sunday. Also you can reduce your airfare costs if you get those crack of dawn flights (before 7am). Unfortunately, I have a feeling that prices will continue to go up over the next few months.
While y'all are there, visit San Juan Capistrano and the old fort. So-Cal is as close a paradise as you can get in lower 48. (minus the politics

The drive to San Diego isn't too bad either, if you have time, they have great beach towns that are worth a visit.
