Is it normal for the outer bark to get soft and fall off at top of tree? Thanks appreciate help

Yes. As it grows I diamond cut mine to get all that excess stuff off. If you leave it, it just rots that outer part and falls off.

Tree company diamond cut tree. If you look up tree like 10 feet off ground bark coming off tree imperfect circle around tree. Is that normal
