My blueberry bushes are starting to grow leaves and something is devouring the leaves. I suspect it’s aphids but not certain. Any advice on what I could do to save the leaves from being eaten by whatever is eating them?

first you should try to ID the culprit. Aphids feed on sap not leaf tissue. It could be deer, rabbits, squirrels etc. it’s kind of early for it to be insects.

If you don’t see any insects on your trees it’s probably an animal

I have never had any foliage issues with my blueberries, in Baton Rouge.

One of my few truly carefree plants

Just competition from the birds for the Berries

Aphids suck the sap, but don’t eat leaves. I would say this is caterpillars, slugs or snails….if it is not some mammal like deer or rabbits.

still early for caterpillars. Like luvdoc said I have never had anything eat my blueberry leaves and I don’t do anything to them except mulch with pine needles.

I doubt it’s an insect

OP if it is snails, put a saucer of beer under the plants you’ll get rid of them quickly
