This is amazing but i have stumped the internet. I can not find a copy cat or any recipe for the liquid concentrate i found one but it has no oil in the recipe and if you cook any at all you know the OG liquid has some oil in it . I have googled the ingredients and i have analyzed the chemicals but , i am looking for a home brew so i can put my spin on it. This is an interesting topic and no i dont want your dry blend i want the bottle of fire that is added to everything to make people ask what is that and makes them cough uncontrollably

Why are you so convinced that there is oil in it, even though none is listed in the ingredients. What would be the point of having oil in it? It wouldn’t add flavor and it would rise to the top during the boil and create a sheen, which you never see at any crawfish boil, unless greasy sausage is thrown in.

Maybe I’m just misunderstanding. I believe there may be some citrus oil? Is that what you are referring to?

Some of the spices in crab boil are oil-soluble, so it would be reasonable to expect oil in the concentrate.

I think the difference is that the concentrate doesn't use spices, it uses essences of the spices. (ETA: should have said extracts)

Not sure, though.

Would this be "essential oils"? Like lemon oil?

A homemade liquid crab boil concentrate mimics commercial blends using intense aromatics and spices. Combine 2 cups water, 1/2 cup vinegar, 2 tbsp cayenne, 1 tbsp each of garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and 1 tsp each of dried thyme, mustard seed, and coriander. Simmer for 15 minutes, strain, and add to your pot

Where is MeridianDog when we need him?

He worked extensively with spices for McCormick, even developing spice mixes for them. If I remember correctly, one was a crab boil spice mix.
