BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — State Sen. Rick Edmonds, R-Baton Rouge, announced he is running for Louisiana’s 5th District after Congresswoman Julia Letlow launched her bid for the Louisiana U.S. Senate.
Edmonds has served in the Louisiana Legislature for a decade, advocating for law enforcement, school choice, small businesses, and responsible fiscal policy. He said constituents in Louisiana’s 5th District deserve experienced leadership.
“Today, our nation faces serious challenges. The rise of socialism is taking hold in many of our major cities and threatens the values that make Louisiana strong. In our state, we believe in hard work, faith, family, and limited government—and we need leadership with a proven track record to defend those principles,” Edmonds said.
He said he looks forward to meeting voters in the coming weeks.

Here come your typical Louisiana politician dominoes. If Edmonds wins, then we’ll have a special election to fill his State Senate seat. If the winner of that election is a current State Representative, then we’ll have another special election to fill his/her seat.

He's up against Shakin Bakin McMakin, who is believed to be interested in running as well.

Ahh…yes. The dude who wanted to make NIL earnings by college athletes exempt from state income taxes, while all other working college students have to pay taxes on their job waiting tables.

Rick Edmonds is a pastor of a church in McComb, Mississippi (where he spends the majority of his time), and has never held a job in his life. He doesn't even live in the district that he represents. Lifetime political grifter.

He's a good conservative. He would be a lot better than some of the other losers Louisiana has sent to Congress.
