They probably would have if he didn’t leave. It made zero sense to hire a defensive coordinator for a team that is an offensive dominant team.

Weiss isn’t experienced enough. That job would eat him alive.
Most thought they would make Judge the Interim and deal with everything after the season. He has NFL head coaching experience and was the better choice to get them through the playoffs.
