Taking a 2 day trip to Lexington and was wondering what the best and safest areas would be for hotels to book. Thanks.

Just about all the big names downtown are fine- Hyatt,Marriott City, The Manchester , 21C .
Outside of Downtown there is the Campbell House near UK and Marriott Griffin Gate on Newtown Pike .
Anything on Beaumont Center Circle is a good location too.
Spring Hill Suites by Marriott at Fritz Farm and Origin Hotel at Fritz Farm are in a great spot for shopping restaurants
Stay away from Winchester Road and anything else on Newtown Pike not named the Marriott Griffin Gate resort .

My rec is The Manchester. Latin themed rooftop bar is nice. Grandam restaurant is good, but pricy. Also close to Distillery District.
Lots of good restaurant options, but I recommend Dudleys on Short to anyone making a first trip to Lexington. It's a bit of an institution for the horse crowd.
