I remember watching them dance around the empty husk of tiger stadium that night feeling like this was unacceptable and something had to change. When Kelly got fired it was obvious some money guys felt the same.

Thing is it could have ended there. That buyout was a big pill, and I wouldn’t blame any donor for saying I did my part.

They didn’t. Whether it was the same donors or others, two things should excite every LSU fan:

What made him come will likely be financial support that isn’t pure salary. If you think about it, everyone courting him would have paid him 10-12MM a year, that’s the game. The contract terms aren’t crazy BK guaranteed money; whatever we offered him that made him say yes has to be a combo of NIL, support/staff, control, and facilities contributions that no one else could pass the red face test on.

So thanks aTm, losing to you like that was a bridge too far that woke up a drowsy donor base and reinvigorated this program.
